Have you ever stopped to think how much paper and gas you would save by paying your bills online? The answer is A LOT. Over 20 million trees are cut down each year to produce the material needed for paper bills. It also takes a lot of gas to deliver these bills to consumers, and then more gas is needed to drive your payment to the post office, and then yet more gas is needed to deliver the payment to the company by the post office. Then there is the cost of stamps which aren't exactly cheap these days. Contrary to popular belief, paying and viewing your bills online is actually much safer than receiving paper bills through the mail. Switching to online billing is generally very simple. Most companies ask if you would like to switch to online billing and tell you how to on each bill you receive. Switching over to online billing can do a lot to preserve our forests and will cut down tremendously on gas consumption and air pollution.
